I think a lot of people get "taken" if they are only passingly familiar with LV and they decide to buy someone a gift. I know someone who would NEVER knowingly buy a fake, but bought an LV for his mom and it turned out to be fake. The handle came completely off, but she mentioned taking it for repair. I didn't have the heart to tell her, and I am sure he paid a lot of money for it, because he enjoyed spending money on people. He would have been very upset had he known. Maybe she was the victim of a scam and thought she was getting the real thing for you. I wouldn't send her the pieces. I was considering a Birkin 35 (pre-loved) but is quite heavy already when empty, even in the lighter leather. I also just sold my only Hermes box calf Kelly as no matter how lovely it was but I had to face how uncomfortable for me it was to get stuff in and in and out.
